    Job Summary:

     

    A Quality Assurance engineer will work under the direction of the Test Lead or IS manager to guide how Allegis applies the principles and concepts of software testing to improve testing capabilities in agile and devops. They need to have a understanding of the best practices in functional and automated testing on complex and non-routine issues requiring the application of industry best practices. Applies experience to achieve the objectives and goals of the job.

    Responsibilities

    Essential Functions:

    • Act as an advisor/consultant to address the QA test requirements of customers. Providing solutions for individual project needs in the QACOE framework.
    • Maintain a working knowledge of the applications and technology goals as it pertains to the position.
    • Monitor, optimize, mentor, collaborate and continually improve the test team as a service to agile teams.
    • Develop appropriate test plans and scripts, and related documentation as needed.
    • Act as an ambassador/consultant in providing testing as a service from the QACOE.
    • Create level of effort (LOE) and duration estimates for assigned work.
    • Be able to work independently on projects with minimal supervision.
    • Monitor and audit agile teams progress in the QA practices from the playbook.
    • Communicate complex technical concepts effectively and in terms that can be understood by all parties involved.
    • Will require travel to the Hanover MD campus with up to 50% travel.

    Qualifications

    Minimum Education and/or Experience:

    • BS/BA degree in a related field and/or comparable industry related experience required.
    • Testing certification such as ASTQB or equivalent desired.
    • 3-5 years of related industry experience working as a tester with a development / IS team, preferably in an Agile environment.
    • Some experience with test automation in Selenium helpful.
    • Experience with tools such as Eclipse, Maven, Git, Jenkins and TestNG helpful.
    • Experience consulting directly with customers in best QA practices.
    • Solid understanding of Agile principles
    • Experience using test management systems like Microfocus ALM
    • Experience using Agile tools like Version One

    Skills/Abilities:

    • Excellent communication, public speaking and presenting skills a plus.
    • Ability to quickly assess technical needs and work with teams to design, implement and deploy a test approach.
    • Provide strategic direction for agile team's test efforts
    • Collaborate with teams on key business processes.
    • Work with the subject matter expert in assisting the product / agile teams.
    • Ability to manage time, multi-task and meet deadlines from a remote location.
    • Experience teaching and mentoring testers.
    • Ability to research, investigate, and learn new techniques.
    • Communicates difficult or sensitive concepts and works to build consensus.
    • Requires depth of expertise in own discipline to be able to guide others in testing principles and concepts.
    • Uses industry understanding to drive decision-making beyond best practices.
