    Job Summary:

    The Data Modeler must have solid data modeling and business analyst experience and must demonstrate an affinity for working with others to create successful Business Intelligence (BI) and Data Warehouse (DW) solutions. He/she must be an excellent communicator, both written and verbal, and have experience working with business areas to translate their business data needs and data questions into project requirements. He/she must have a solid background in Data Analysis and Data Modeling as well as on the job experience as a data modeler.

    This position provides the opportunity to be involved in new BI and DW solutions and to work with many different business areas within the company. The Data Modeler will participate in all phases of the BI/DW development life cycle and will independently and collaboratively write project/enhancement requirements and perform data modeling duties. The Data Modeler will also be responsible for defining and specifying data models and mappings for all data used within the enterprise, both internally and externally. He/she will coordinate with technical BI/DW development staff through design, construction and implementation as a business area liaison, consultant and UAT tester.

    Responsibilities

    Essential Functions:

    • Collaborate with business partners and the project team to document, categorize and classify information used by our various business systems.
    • Support new and existing development projects with logical data and process modeling activities. Provide entity, logical and physical data models
    • Perform database and data warehouse design across multiple platforms.
    • Create and maintain custom and vendor provided data dictionaries for all business systems.
    • Leverage technical expertise in database warehousing and data modelling in support of internal and external customer’s data exchange and integration needs.
    • Estimates level of effort for work assignments and requests received, then communicate accordingly to the Project Manager to determine delivery time.
    • Communicates project status, issues, and resolutions with appropriate Lead and/or Managers.
    • Provides guidance and feedback to users as needed.
    • Participates in team and business relationship building activities on an ongoing basis.
    • Meets all agreed-upon turnaround times for deliverables.
    • Maintains a working knowledge of new technologies and adopts suitable concepts for the organization.
    • Participate in data governance processes related to data quality and information management

    Qualifications

    Minimum Education and/or Experience:

    • B.S. in Computer Science, Information Systems or other related field or the equivalent combination of education and experience.
    • 7+ years of experience in the Information Technology field required.
    • 5+ years of experience in relational and dimensional modeling, including the development of entity relationship diagrams.
    • 5+ years of experience Microsoft SQL Server.
    • Experience with data modeling tools such as ERWin, TOAD, Power Designer, and Visio.
    • Knowledge of Kimball dimensional data modeling methodology.
    • Experience with ETL technologies such as Informatica and SSIS is a plus.
    • Experience leading data requirements and analysis sessions across different projects and key initiatives
    • Experience gathering/writing requirements
