  • Overview

    Job Summary:

     

    The Data Governance Architect is responsible for the strategies and design of our information architecture.  This includes guidelines, models, and standards that govern how data is collected, stored, transformed, integrated, and consumed.  The role will support the following areas:

    • Translating business needs and application architecture into data models and data flow blueprints that depict the flow of information between people (users) and business processes.
    • Supporting data and information architecture blueprints as they evolve through our digital transformation.
    • Bridging the gap between disparate applications to ensure data integrity and quality.
    • Facilitating strategies and design principles for complex data and information delivery throughout the organization.
    • Supporting the selection, implementation, and management of enterprise solutions through partnerships with domain, solution, and enterprise architects, as well as the data teams.​
     

    Responsibilities

    Essential Functions:
    • Develop and maintain a logical data architecture blueprint that aligns with business processes and the guidance of the data governance council (i.e., design principles, source systems, business rules/logic, technology and business alignment, etc.).
    • Develop, champion, and govern data architecture standards, tools, best practices, and development methodologies with the domain architects from the data, information security, and enterprise application areas.
    • Work collaboratively with architecture and development teams fostering re-use, design for scale, stability, and operational efficiency principles.
    • Assess data quality patterns, recommend data cleansing rules, develop data retention strategy and policy, and conforming data standard rules.
    • Identify opportunities that accelerate data delivery and decrease operational costs, without compromising data integrity.
    • Responsible for maintaining solution inventory in Troux.
    • Must adhere to Architectural governance framework for project/product deployments.

    Qualifications

    Minimum Education and/or Experience:
    • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related field, plus at least 10 years of experience working in information technology required.
    • 5+ years of enterprise data architecture experience required.
    • Experience with Cloud based data warehousing applications, Oracle data warehousing, Informatica MDM & ETL, MuleSoft is a plus.
    • Certification of The Open Group Architecture Framework (TOGAF) or other architecture framework is a plus.
    Skills/Abilities:

    Technical

    • Thorough understanding of modern enterprise data architecture, hands-on experience with commercial-off-the-shelf offerings for ERP, CRM, MDM, and data warehouse technologies.
    • Hands on experience architecting, designing, implementing, and delivering enterprise-level solutions, preferably large BI and/or data warehousing projects.
    • Experience establishing metadata management (business and technical) to support reporting and analytic efficiencies.
    • Thorough understanding of and experience working with data analysis, migration, and modeling tools (e.g. ER/Win, Power Designer).
    • Experience with Microsoft SQL Server 2008 & 2012 and Oracle 10g,11g,12c databases required.

    Interpersonal

    • Willingness to understand business goals and develop current and future technical solutions.
    • Ability to clearly communicate complex technical ideas, regardless of the technical capacity of the audience.
    • Strong communication skills including written, verbal, and presentation skills.
    • Working expertise in MS Visio, MS PowerPoint, and technology illustration.
    • Experience balancing multiple projects at a time.
    • Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative culture.
    • Working knowledge of the Agile Methodology for solution delivery, i.e. scrum, Kanban, SAFE.​
